It allows you to create articles to communicate, collaborate and share your knowledge making unique information easily available for the readers and providing them freedom of expression. In short, it is an easy accessible path between readers and authors.

For marketing/sales and all businesses, Knol.Google.com site allows to create articles on specific topics inviting readers to contribute their thoughts, suggesting additions to the article and links to other helpful resources (including articles on your own sites).

Although the team behind this venture aims to provide freedom of expression, but some boundaries have been set on the type of content that can be hosted with Knol. Material containing irrelevant nudity, sexually graphic material or other material (a relevant illustration for a medical or educational knoll, is exceptional) is marked as a page containing mature content as a courtesy to other Knol users, so that they will have the choice of viewing or not viewing this content. 

Pornography strictly banned:

Google has zero-tolerance policy against all types of pornography and regarding authorities will take strict action against anyone who promotes such material.

Hateful and Violent content to be avoided:

Users are not allowed to publish material that promotes hate toward groups based on race or ethnic origin, religion, gender and veteran status.

Personal information to be private:

Confidential information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers and other personal information is not publicly accessible.

Commercial use not allowed:

Knol pages that have the primary purpose of profiting from displaying ads with little or no unique content, will not be allowed.
